covers are fairly self explanatory. They are designed to cover your
pool and capture the sun's heat in order to provide a slight
temperature raise for your water and help retain any heat that has
been captured. They are also referred so as solar blankets for
swimming pools.
They come in a variety of sizes for all shapes of pools, both
inground and above ground pools. You can even buy used and new
covers online (see our product links below). They are some of the
least expensive options available, especially when buying used.
Just be sure you're getting a clean undamaged cover otherwise it
will be fairly ineffective for the purpose you had.
The largest heat loss from a swimming pool is from evaporation,
by adding a simple barrier such as a pool cover can cut almost all
of these losses. Covering the pool with a
pool cover when it is not in use is the single most effective means
of reducing pool heating costs. Savings of 50-70% are possible. It
is also worthwhile investing in a pool cover reel, to make covering
the pool easier.

which work together to collect and retain heat in your pool. The
Solar Blanket floats on top of the water and allows the solar
energy to pass through, then traps it as retained heat in the pool.

work? Solar Blankets are designed to retain heat. Solar energy
(short wavelength) easily passes through the blanket. The heat is
retained in the water, which radiates at longer wavelengths. It is
restricted from readily dissipating into the atmosphere due to the
special design of the blanket. What do they do? Solar Blankets will
increase pool water temperature by 10 to 15 degrees and will reduce
heating costs up to 75%. Pool water stays warmer longer, therefore
extending the swimming season. Most heat loss in a pool is caused
by evaporation. A solar blanket will trap the heat in and reduce
evaporation by around 95% and will save up to 50% on pool chemical
usage while the pool is covered. The blanket also acts as a barrier
to prevent leaves and debris from entering the pool, thereby
reducing maintenance time.
